Stephen Wayne Greathouse

July 29, 1950 - April 17, 1976

Stephen Wayne Greathouse was born on July 29, 1950 in Oklahoma City and died on April 17, 1976, at the age of 25 in Norman, Oklahoma. But in between those two dates lived a little freckled faced red-haired boy, a loving affectionate adolescent, a troubled teenager and a searching young man.

In my biased opinion, Steve was probably the cutest little boy ever born. He had gorgeous red hair, a ton of freckles and an impish grin that would melt your heart. Mom used to put bells in the lacings of his shoes and when we couldn t hear the bells jingling we knew he was into something. He retained that on the go spirit for the rest of his life.

Steve was a loving caring person and always ready with a big hug or a friendly handshake. As a kid he loved animals. We had dogs, ducks, chickens, hamsters and even a snake. He graduated from that to more dogs and two piranhas that lived in his room in Norman.

Steve loved his family, adored his mother and we all loved him as well. He is still terribly missed by his family, especially me, his big sister who used to think he was such a pest. Now I would love to be pestered by him again.

I hope you all have a very successful reunion and I wish Steve could be there to share in all the fun and reminiscing.

Blessings to each of you ..Sharon Greathouse McDonald

Sharing Memories of Stephen Wayne Greathouse
e-mail to John Coley

I still visit his gravesite every once in a while. We got into some mischief in those days in high school and beyond. I miss his big smile, always ready to help anyone with cars and motorcycles. He was a good carpenter and a good friend. We went to a bunch of rock concerts together including Hendrix and Led Zepplin's Whole Lotta Love Tour. A good young man whose was troubled by the times. I wondered what he would have thought about 2016.
